Our School Cross Country

Today we went to a nearby farm to run the Hawera Primary Cross Country.

We had to run on a muddy track that smelled of cow poo!!
Some people got wet and lots of people got dirty.
In the 6 year old boys Liam came first, Tyler second and Mason third.
In the 6 year old girls Shontel came second and Alyssa third.
Terry came third in the 7year boys and Michelle came third in the girls.
Although it was cold we still had fun and ran really well!!

Terrys Power bot.

In the holidays I made a power bots thing. It was a robot. At first my mum and I did not know where the switch was but then mum found it. The robot looks funny when it goes. The hardest thing about it was when the arms had to go on the chasy.

Abigails day off !

On Wednesday I helped my Dad. Me and Dad went to NDA to take these things that go on the bottom of big tankers. After we went to Eltham and I got a chocolate and vanilla ice-cream, but I didn't eat all of it because I can't eat while I am travelling. So my Dad ate the reast of it. We were in my Dad's blue truck and I sat in the front because there is no back seats.

Ronald McDonald visit

This morning Ronald McDonald came to visit the junior syndicate.

Ronald McDonald talked to us about road safety.

We need to remember to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!!!!
It is essential to wear a helmet when we are biking.

When you are going out in the car you need to MAKE IT CLICK!

When we are walking we need to stay on the house side of the footpath and watch for hidden driveways.

Discovery with Room 3

On Friday Room 3 came to share some of our discovery time with us. We had a great time. We learnt some great skipping moves, made a new structure for the train track, made puppet shows and felt stories. Some of us even finished jigsaw puzzles.

We also used salt to float an egg in water.

There was lots of sharing and questioning, not to mention helping each other.

Pancakes will be one of next weeks discovery! Yum!!!

Mathletics

This week we have been playing mathletics on the computer. Most of us had our bronze awards after 1 day of playing. We have learnt lots of new things and have played live maths against people from all over the world.

Mathletics is only avaliable until 9am on Monday.

Discovery Day - 21 August

Today Janna came to help out with discovery day. Some of us made play dough with her. It was lots of fun, we had to follow a recipe and work together to measure the ingredients.
Caleb, Ethan and Casen spent lots of time co-operating to get the railway built. They even found some boxes from last week and used them to create tunnels and sheds for the trains.
Some of us learnt how to skip in a big rope. We had to get our timing right or the rope hurt when it hit you. Tyler and Jahleea couldn't skip at the start of discovery but were superstars by the time they finished.
We also used the lego, the felt stories and worked on reading eggs on the computers.
Wonder what discovery next week will be?????
